British horror writer Tim Lebbon’s bestselling novel 2015 The Silence is currently being filmed by director John R Leonetti (The Conjuring, Annabelle) with a cast headed by Kiernan Shipka, Stanley Tucci and Miranda Otto. The film follows the struggle of a family to survive when the world is overrun by sightless creatures who hunt by sound, and it is set for a September 6 release. Startlingly, a new film, A Quiet Place, which appears to be based on exactly the same concept, was released in April to great acclaim and the best box office since Black Panther. A Quiet Place marks the directional debut of John Krasinski, stars his wife, Emily Blunt, and is credited as being written by Krasinski with Bryan Woods, and Scott Beck. There is no mention of Tim Lebbon. Expect off-screen wranglings.
