● TURKMENISTAN: The Central Asian country has honoured its native dog, the Alabay, with a national holiday, due to be celebrated for the second time on Sunday April 24, 2022. Last year, President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov unveiled a 50ft golden statue depicting the huge shepherd breed, which can weigh up to 12st 7lb, on a traffic island in the country’s capital, Ashgabat.
● MALAYSIA: A wild monkey in Seri Kembangan, Selangor, kidnapped a puppy from a stray dog’s litter and held her hostage for three days. Locals eventually managed to persuade the macaque to drop the two-week-old black and white puppy, named Saru, who was adopted by a resident.
