Your Dog

Your Dog - August 2026 My month began on the islands of southern Thailand, where my daily routine of coconuts and snorkelling was occasionally interrupted by the hundreds of incredibly social dogs that call island life home. I also had the pleasure of meeting Koh Tao’s famous English Bulldog, a pup who has unknowingly risen to social media fame thanks to his unbothered approach to island life and has now even become something of a tourist attraction! Anyway, let’s look at some canine companions that live a little closer to home… we have a packed issue this month: Andrea McHugh has been learning all about Sika and Tarka, a remarkable duo trained to help tackle the challenge of Scotland’s declining red squirrel population. Elsewhere, we focus on overcoming some of the issues should we see extreme temperatures this summer. The summer holiday season also may mean longer car journeys. Toni Shelbourne highlights the importance of making travel as stress-free as possible, and we showcase the ultimate canine car travel kit to help along the way. Plus, Jackie Boyd looks at the best activities for you and your dog to enjoy once you arrive. Competitions, city guides, grooming tips, golden oldies… so much to read and enjoy!
