I was saddened to hear about the passing of Bill Freehan during the early morning hours of August 19, the end of a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease, the last two in hospice care. He was 79.
I met Freehan once when he and a group of players from the Tigers were traveling around the state of Michigan playing charity basketball games against local coaches, police or firefighters during the offseason of 1971.
