THE TRUE KING, they say, needs no introduction, which, if correct, would leave us with very little to say about the secondgeneration Audi Q7. It’s been one of our favourite luxury SUVs since the day it was launched, a plush and practical pantechnicon of almost unparalleled comfort and outstanding interior quality. To this day, few seven-seaters can match its all-round abilities.
The formidable line-up of engines originally included 218bhp and 272bhp 3.0 TDI diesels, plus a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) e-tron with an official 34-mile electric range, and a mighty SQ7 with a 429bhp 4.0-litre diesel V8. In later models (from 2019 onwards), the diesels were upgraded to 228bhp and 282bhp (now known as the 45 TDI and 50 TDI), and a 335bhp 55 TFSI petrol version was introduced. There was also a 376bhp 55 TFSIe PHEV, although this was pulled from the range in 2022. The SQ7 continued with the same power output.
