I’M NOW MANY thousands of miles into life with the Renault Megane E-Tech, so it feels like a good moment to reflect on what it does and doesn’t do well. For starters, to my eyes, it looks great inside and out; the exterior styling sets it apart from other mainstream electric cars, while the interior generally blends modernity and functionality well.
Initially, I was worried that I’d be overwhelmed by the plethora of dials, buttons and switches hanging off the steering wheel; with gearshift paddles and volume controls, plus a gamut of stalks, including the gear selector, it all seemed a bit much. However, as is so often the case, time has taught me to use them instinctively. More irritating is the fact that some of them obscure your view of the driver’s display. I’m tall and can peer over the obstructions to see the screen, but for some drivers of smaller stature, it could be an issue.
