KEF has dabbled in the headphone market since 2013, experimenting with both over-ear and in-ear models over the years. It’s fair to say, however, that the hi-fi giant hasn’t set the headphone market alight – but that could all be about to change with the ambitious KEF Mu3.
The Mu3 are KEF’s first wireless noise-cancelling earbuds and, in terms of their price, they slot in between the big-hitting Sony WF-1000XM3 and the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds.
If you haven’t heard of Ross Lovegrove before, you will have by the time you have unboxed the Mu3s. Lovegrove has helped design several KEF products in the past, notably the KEF Muon, a pair of limited edition aluminium, floorstanders costing £140,000 per pair. He has now turned his hand to a pair of wireless earbuds and his name is emblazoned on the packaging, the instructions – even on the inside of the Mu3 case.
