Ready to train for an autumn marathon but worried that all the seriousness of training will suck the joy out of running? Well, here’s news… it doesn’t have to. If you’re a runner who likes to head out the door and not overthink it, or who tenses up at the thought of interval sessions and mile splits, then read on.
While there are certainly benefits to introducing some speed sessions or threshold runs into training for a marathon, it’s not the only way to do it. The most important factor in training for a marathon is getting out and doing your runs. And you’re more likely to get out the door and do your runs if they’re ones you’re looking forward to.
