”I THOUGHT THEY SAID RUM, NOT RUN!”
IT WASN’T JUST COCKTAILS AND ISLAND LIVING FOR EMMA HOGBIN, WHO JETTED OFF TO JAMAICA FOR THE REGGAE 10K
REGGAE MARATHON 10K
EMMA HOGBIN
The humidity made this race tough – but the vibe made up for it!
I wouldn’t really class myself as a runner. I mean, I run, intermittently, but I’ve never entered an event before – not even a parkrun. Yet there I was at the start line of the 17th annual Reggae Marathon, Half Marathon & 10K – and in 26-degree heat to boot, despite sunrise being an hour away.
My partner was running the Reggae Marathon, so despite my initial reservations, I thought it fair to give the 10K option a go. Besides, as soon as I’d run, I’d get to recover in a sun-drenched paradise, strawberry daiquiri in hand. Not a bad way to finish a race by anyone’s standards.
