This meets a lot of the criteria I look for in a rain jacket: it has a hood big enough to fit over my hair when it’s in a bun – and that stays up if it’s windy, it doesn’t make an annoying noise like you’re eating crisps when you run, and it keeps the rain out. Mostly. In the worst of UK rain, the front zip does get breached and the water comes in, but otherwise it’s great for showers and light downpours.

Despite being super warm and insulated, it is really lightweight and packs down into its own pocket. The hood is a good size and the outer is water-repellent for light drizzle (but not much more than that). I found it came up a little on the large size, so size down or wear it over other warm layers.
