Be warned: it’s not uncommon for authors to be asked if their work is autobiographical. It’s understandable on one level if it seems to sail a little close to the persona they present to the outside world, say, with humorous or family/ relationship stories. But less so if they write crime or horror fiction of the sliceand- dice variety, and totally unnerving if they write science fiction. But believe it or not, people do ask.
