Lorraine Mace seeks help from the experts on building her brand

NOTES FROM THE MARGIN
I’ve always considered myself a writer, but apparently I shouldn’t. It appears I have to think of myself as a brand. Brand? I hear you ask. Well, you may not actually ask, but I did when a marketing guru looked down his nose and told me I’d failed in my efforts to such an extent I’d have to work very hard indeed if I stood any chance at all of promoting my brand!
Most writers (well, all the authors I know personally) are pretty bad when it comes to marketing. We write and hope that somehow readers will discover us without us having to do anything to make it happen. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case. I am hopeless at promoting my books, so decided to bring in an expert to help me. This is when I discovered, firstly, that I was a brand and, secondly, that I had been guilty of self-destruction.
