When getting a dog, we think about what we like. The look, the temperament, the character of a breed, and how they would fit into our lifestyle. But what if it was the other way round? What if it was the dog looking at your profile to see how you fit them? That’s what we’re doing in this month’s lead feature, ‘Best for Breeds.’ We identify six generic types of dog owner and see which breeds would choose them as owners!
Now, we know life is a compromise. In reality, you may fit into a couple of categories and would have to balance out different aspects of your life when it comes to choosing a dog. But it’s a brilliant starting point to really analyse what type of dog owner you are and see which breeds would fit you – some might surprise you!
The rest of the issue is bursting with great content to entertain and inspire. I’d highly recommend reading Tony Cruse’s piece on eye contact. It was eye opening to say the least, as to me, it opens up a whole new line of communication with your canine companion. One that isn’t about you giving your dog commands. Instead, it creates a habit of your dog naturally checking in with you, making managing their behaviour a real team effort.
