Following the launch of its initiative highlighting the importance of registering new appliances, AMDEA, The Association of Manufacturers of Domestic Appliances, is offering some top safety tips for small kitchen appliances. These include not wrapping the cords of appliances such as irons around them when not in use, as this can weaken the cord, making it dangerous. The AMDEA also recommends only using extension leads for temporary connections – a lead may have four sockets but altogether it should not use more than 13amps or 3000 watts of energy – always check the allowance of a particular lead.
