LIVING ROOM MAKEOVER
Melanie Watson, 46, a nurse, husband Andrew and daughters Amy and Evie, moved into their four-bedroom semi-detached 1930s home in 2008. ‘The living room was bland with beige carpet, walls and curtains, but it was functional, and with busy lives, re-decorating wasn’t a priority and the room was left in its boring state,’ says Melanie. ‘A couple of years ago a spark from the fire made a burn mark in the carpet and although I knew the room could look better, I couldn’t decide what colours or style I wanted so I never got started!’ The room became full with furniture and possessions until in the autumn of 2016 Melanie decided it was time to give the room the makeover it desperately needed. ‘I saw a colour chart on Pinterest inspired by a peacock feather, it included turquoise, darker blues, emerald green and gold that was beautiful and decided to use them for my scheme. I’d waited so long that I was excited to finally have a colourful plan.’
Good idea!
