Who says schooling has to be boring? Dressage rider Samantha Brown shows you how to have fun and tone up your horse using her new riding series, Snakes and Ladders. If strengthening your horse’s core conjures up images of intense schooling sessions, tricky moves and your horse switching off, then the Snakes and Ladders riding initiative, the brainchild of Samantha Brown, could be for you. It’s based around advanced pole work and is designed to strengthen your horse’s core muscles while having fun. The ‘snakes’ are poles set as curves on the floor to encourage your horse to bend, while the ‘ladders’ are straight avenues that make him lift.
