You probably picked up Airliner World for some blessed relief from the general election campaign. If so, I’m sorry to disappoint! Successive governments have had an enormous capacity to impact our industry, so as the election approaches, let’s look at how a new UK government could support the aviation sector.
The environment and net zero will undoubtedly – and quite rightly – play a part in party political manifestos. The aviation industry is working flat out to address this challenge, but government has a key role to help us get there. The UK has fallen behind its European and US counterparts in producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and we cannot afford to let the gap widen.
