An Adventure with Colman’s Mustard by British painter Arthur Wardle (1864-1949) is among the pictures on offer at Richard Green gallery’s 50 Paintings Under £50,000.
The exhibition, which runs from January 16, is a chance to purchase examples of works by well-known artists for more affordable prices, starting at around £12,500.
London-born Wardle had his first painting displayed at the Royal Academy at the age of 16, and specialised in paintings of animals, both domestic and exotic, throughout his career. On the open market his works can reach well over £50,000 and his auction high reached at Christie’s London in 2013, according to the Art Sales Index, was £337,875.
