MARY MacLean’s story is heart-rending. Still a young woman, and a nicer lady you could not wish to meet, she was struck down by a cruel condition.
But this severely disabled woman is not receiving the help she needs from publiclyfunded organisations that have a duty of care. Her family does stress, though, that Mary’s day-to-day care has been excellent.
There is, at best, confusion in all of this. The family believe they were promised a home for Mary, custom-designed by specialist occupational therapists, in a new ACHA complex. Whatever the reasons, this is now not the case.
