Owner retires from day-today running of care home

It is all change at the Cooriedoon care home in Whiting Bay.

Owner Sandra Butler has retired from the day-to-day running of the home which has been taken over by new manager Gwen Walker.

Matron Daisy Thomas has also left to pursue a career as a theatre staff nurse.

Built in 1900, the home started life as the Whiting Bay Hotel, and in 1988, after an extensive interior renovation it re-opened as Cooriedoon Nursing Home. In 2002 it became a residential and nursing home. It was established by Sandra’s mum Celia, who retired 12 years ago when Sandra Butler took over the reins.
