Let’s face it, in the modern world life is stressful. We all work way too much and even when we do manage to get those well-deserved weeks of annual leave more often than not we still feel connected to the office umbilical style by the dreaded smartphone and its never ending roster of dreaded pings and zings reminding us work is but one evil swipe away.
So our way of getting through a hot, sticky summer is to have as many mini-break weekends as possible. And our absolute favourite weekend away is a trip to a lavish country house to pretend we’re a Dowager Countess lolling around the spa all day, drinking champagne and giving the golf course a wide berth. A stay in a proper country house is one of the most luxurious and relaxing things you can do, blending the traditions of ye olde grand living with modern amenities like swimming pools and top quality restaurants.
