INITIAL CONCEPT

01 INSPIRATION
The first step was to draw an image that I thought could translate well to a CG art piece. I had drawn this image in pencil back in the summer and I knew I wanted to progress it, so I spent two days improving the composition, adding colour and texture and further defining the two different characters involved – the mischievous tree and the sleeping boy.

IT’S ALL IN THE DETAILS
I began thinking about how this would translate to 3D and what a CG artist would need to model it. Everything has volume, so how does the child look from the front, in profile? What about the tree? As a concept artist, the greater detail you can provide the CG artist, the better, so I created sketches from each angle.
