Almost exactly a year after setting an auction record for modern British painter Sir Cedric Morris (1889-1982), the Henry Adams saleroom has done it again.
The still-life oil on canvas Wild Flowers was hammered down at £130,000 (plus 20% buyer’s premium) on April 13 in Chichester.
Signed and dated ’23, the painting topped the previous high for the self-taught artist set in April 2016 when Henry Adams sold Summer Garden Flowers at £81,000.
