Some of the more successful lots in a June 1 sale at PBA Galleries (20/15% buyer’s premium) of the first portion of the Richard Beagle collection of angling and sporting books were scarce accounts of early hunting trips in the Yukon and Wyoming.
Published in 1911 was A Hunters Summer in Yukon Territory, a 48pp account in original printed wrappers of a hunting trip in which the bag mostly comprised mountain sheep. Arthur H Bannon illustrated his account with eight reproductions of photographs – two of them offering the same shot of a ‘Skinned Carcass of the Big Grizzly’.
