A vintage, salvage and artisan market with lots of music, entertainment and speciality food stalls, as well as clothes and homewares, will be held inside and outside The Abbeydale Picture House in Sheffield’s Antiques Quarter on Sunday, July 9.
When the now-listed picture house was opened by the Mayor of Sheffield in 1920 it was the largest and most luxurious cinema in the city, referred to as the Picture Palace, like so many of the early UK cinemas.
It was all decorative carving, with a mosaic floor in the foyer, a luxurious cream and gold colour scheme and mahogany seats.
