An Assyrian relief from the reign of Ashurnasirpal II (c.883-859BC). It depicts a ‘Winged Genius’, a deity also known as an Apkallu, holding a bucket and a cone-shaped object, signifying fertility and protection for the king. It will be offered at Christie’s with an estimate in excess of $10m.
