King’s Cross on an ordinary, busy afternoon in March is the subject of this 1998 work by the late Leon Kossoff (1926-2019).
A typical subject for the Jewish-born artist who spent his entire working life in London painting cityscapes of the seemingly mundane, the large 4ft 10in x 6ft 6in (1.47 x 1.98m) oil on board is one of the stars of a new touring retrospective of paintings by Kossoff at Annely Juda Fine Art in London, Mitchell-Innes & Nash in New York and LA Louver in California.
