Coastguard rescue
The Kames Coastguard Rescue Team (CRT) was called out to a broken down vessel off Castle Lachlan in Loch Fyne on Friday September 7.
The team went to Otter Ferry where they made contact with the Tighnabruaich RNLI Lifeboat crew who were en route to the boat’s location. Kames CRT fianked the lifeboat from the shore as she sailed north to Castle Lachlan and acted as communications relay between Tighnabruaich Lifeboat and Belfast Coastguard. Once the lifeboat had the broken down vessel safely under tow, and Kames CRT veriThed that it didn’t need any further shore assistance, the team headed to Portavadie marina to inform marina staff of the vessels’ ETA. Kames CRT then returned to the station and ensured the equipment was ready for the next call out.
