THE first time Jessica Ennis-Hill appeared in AW, I was at the event but didn’t even notice her. The scene was the 1999 English Schools in Bury St Edmunds and the 13-yearold finished only 10th in the high jump.
Since then, though, she has certainly caught the eye. Continuing the British tradition of heptathlon excellence, she has won Olympic gold and silver, two world crowns (three if you include the 2011 event won by disgraced Tatyana Chernova), European senior and junior titles, world indoor gold and UK records in heptathlon, sprint hurdles and high jump (see p18-23).
