JUSTIN GATLIN shook off the Brazilian boo boys, comparing the reaction to his rivalry with Usain Bolt by some sections of the crowd to professional wrestling.
Gatlin, a controversial figure having twice tested positive in his career, faced a level of vocal hostility uncommon for athletics crowds, first when competing in the 100m and secondly when stepping up to the podium to claim his silver medal behind the Jamaican.
“It’s a showman’s sport. I think the rivalry that I have with Usain, it’s turned it into a professional wrestling feel. Everyone’s cheering for Usain, but they have someone they have to boo against,” said the 2004 100m Olympic champion.
