Dogma colours Catholicism’s view of manliness and gay sex

A PRIEST ONCE TOLD ME that the world would be an easier place to live if more people went to confession. As a child, the confessional booth was one of the corners of the Catholic faith that bored me most. As a lapsed adult, it’s the one I miss. Sitting for 10 minutes, making a scorecard of every rotten thing you’ve done in the past fortnight, then being absolved of it is a useful, even noble endeavour. My problem with the hypothesis is that my version of sin and the Catholic Church’s has always varied so wildly.
