They're avin' it! Yes, and as you would expect at this time of the year, the phone is ringing off the hook with tales of monsters banked and those lost! Consequently this month’s piece from Keith Jenkins is packed to the gunwales with proper English monsters and definitely not to be missed if you like looking at huge, scaly beauties. Likewise, our regular diarists have been outdoing themselves on the banks this month with some classic encounters from Ed Betteridge, Sean Leverett and Ian Stott. Speaking of Ian, he’s having a tremendous year again, giving Welly a real spanking with some colossal mirrors and even bigger commons. His series continues into next year with loads of crackers from both Elstow and Welly. Speaking of new series, we kicked off the Ben Dowers’ series last month, and this is turning out to be a mouthwatering piece. Not only did he conquer Horton Church Pool, but when he turned his attentions to the notoriously difficult Car Park Lake at Yateley, guess what? They kept coming to the bank. The Rotary Letter has become a firm favorite this year due to one overriding fact – the lineup! What a great team of thinking minds we have this time around. No wonder the carp world is buzzing about it. I think it’s a great balance of old and new, which gives answers that reflect both sides of the coin. Dave, Lee and I are old school for want of a better phrase, while Jon, Ed and Sean have a fresh new look at some age-old problems. The outcome is quite incredible and the information generated will prove invaluable I’m sure.
