LEGENDS: Tyson, here with Lennox Lewis and Holyfield, was great in his day

IT was not good to see the legendary Bernard Hopkins talking absolute garbage about Mike Tyson’s much-hyped return to the ring. Hopkins was interviewed on the YouTube channel, Fight Hub TV, and said that he believes Tyson and Evander Holyfield would have a chance at becoming undisputed champions in this present heavyweight era. He even said that they would have a chance of beating Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.
Of course, such talk is hilarious to those who know boxing, but many of the YouTube comments, clearly from casual boxing fans, seemed to agree with Hopkins. This is both foolish and dangerous. “Iron” Mike was a great champion in his day but he lost to fighters like Kevin McBride and Danny Williams when he was still in his thirties. No disrespect to those boxers but Tyson is now 54 years old and a regular smoker of marijuana. Getting in shape and looking good on the pads is no substitute for being out of the ring for 15 years. A similar argument can be made for Holyfield, too. As great as Tyson and Holyfield were in their day, Joshua and Fury would probably beat both of them one after the other, with ease.
