Brilliant revamp

Set in a quiet and leafy location near the Parkstone Golf Course in Poole, a 1970s two-storey house has been thoroughly transformed into a contemporary and highly energy-efficient four-bedroom family dwelling.

David James Architects designed and project managed this stunning renovation, including the interior fit out and decor. The sloping site provided an additional challenge for the professionals, ultimately proving a significant influence on the final structure. While the house appears to be a twostorey build when viewed from the road, it now boasts three levels as they cascade down the slope.

Natural light penetrates throughout the open-plan living areas thanks to the double height glazing. The third floor, clad in Grespania wood-effect ceramic cladding, has access to a large terrace with frameless glass balustrades overlooking the sloping golf grounds.

Fin House

This oak and glass extension to a family home in north London is the work of Kin Architects. The designers cleverly rearranged the dwelling’s interiors and turned the sloping garden into a series of terraces. The new structure sits on a plinth made from reclaimed bricks, complementing the home.

The owners’ brief called for a sunbathed, sustainable addition to the house that would make for a more comfortable space. Divided into two levels, the extension contains a living area and kitchen, with the dining room in the lower level overlooking the exterior.
