A FORMER police officer’s claims that subsidence on the A83 could cost lives has spurred a road maintenance firm into action.
John Newlands wrote a strongly-worded letter to BEAR Scotland about a serious defect in the surface of the A83 just north of Bellochantuy that he suspects is caused by subsidence.
A large lump, similar to a speed hump, has developed during the summer which can compress a vehicle’s suspension to the maximum amount. Some drivers swerve to try to avoid the obstruction and move into the opposite carriageway.
