Despite a plea for ‘white sails only’ it was Irish yachts flying multicoloured spinnakers which led the way out of Campbeltown Loch.
Slowly but surely the spinnakered sailing yachts pulled ahead and valiant efforts, such as Carna crew member Spencer Ellis’ use of a pole to push out the boat’s largest headsail, failed to make enough diTherence.
In the 47th annual Cushendall Sailing and Boating Club v Campbeltown Sailing Club double headers first round, it was Irish yacht Ce na Ri which won the day in a corrected time of 4236.4 seconds.
