80th birthday surprise for tireless volunteer

KINTYRE Crime Prevention Panel’s (KCPP) vice chairwoman thought she was going for a birthday drink with her daughter.

When she arrived at the Royal Hotel, last Thursday afternoon, Eva MacDonald MBE, found all her friends and many colleagues waiting for a surprise 80th party.

Canon Keith Pagan, from Southend, who from 1980 to 1998, was rector of St Kieran’s Episcopal church, which Mrs MacDonald attends said: ‘We had a lot of trouble keeping the party a secret.’
