MADNESS
MAD NOT MAD
BMG
★★★★
Following the release of The Madness and Wonderful, Madness’ chronologically scattergun vinyl reissues steps back to the final album of the classic line-up (minus Mike Barson). Their keyboardist is surprisingly not missed: great player and co-writer as Barson is, Mad Not Mad is still a defiant, up-for-it set. The lyrics are often melancholy, with biggest hit Yesterday’s Men typical of encroaching maturity.
