The usual suspects
It’s easy to get lost in a compendium such as this, thanks to the bewildering array of synth plugins that are on offer within. The chances are, you might be wondering whether or not you will use the entire package, and the answer to that ultimately lies with your own creativity and the style of production you’re drawn to. With that strange twist of irony, much of today’s production often relies on sounds from yesteryear, and while the sounds may also be obtained from other places, V Collection 9 could well be the perfect springboard for your production creativity. The ever-present Minimoog is represented too, in the shape of the Mini V, while the equally ubiquitous Roland Juno is available from the similarly fashioned Jun-6 V. You’ll also find recreations of electro-mechanical pianos, with the Wurli V and Stage-73 V, alongside the Piano V 3 which we’ve previously mentioned in this review. There are digital synths, modular synths, and some quirky machines such as the Buchla Easel V. All in all, if you can’t find a synth or keyboard sound in this package, we can’t think where you would find more choice!
