2016 GIRO D'ITALIA PREVIEW
The Tour de France might be more famous, but to many cycling connoisseurs it’s the Giro d’Italia that is the greatest of the Grand Tours.
Part of its appeal is the beautiful setting and Italy’s dramatic geography. Once this year’s race completes its three days in the Netherlands, the route heads northwards from Italy’s toe, taking in innumerable pretty old towns and landscapes including the Tyrrhenian coast and the hills of Tuscany,
before reaching the stunning mountainous scenery of first the Dolomites then the Alps and a finish in Turin.
