THE MISANDRISTS
Directed by Bruce LaBruce
Schlock horror maestro Bruce LaBruce is back and on top form with this homage to B movies. The radical feminist terrorist group Female Liberation Army is preparing to usher in the new female world order, but their mission starts to unravel when one of their numbers takes pity on an injured male soldier. But that’s not the only threat from within the ranks in this utterly ridiculous but hilariously entertaining view on taking the patriarchy down.

One of DIVA’s favourite films from this year’s BFI Flare: London LGBT Film Festival is coming to iTunes this August; and believe us, you do not want to miss out. This heartbreakingly beautiful love story is told in flashback, from the point of view of an ageing Rose who can’t help reminiscing about the fierce love affair she had with Louise when they were both young women in the early 60s. It has picked up festival awards all over the place and is destined to be a queer cinema classic.
