This is where it gets complicated. This two-part finale to Matt Smith’s inaugural series as the Doctor generated quite a few tie-in toys – including an entire 2010 collect-and-build Pandorica wave, in which each of six releases came with one wall of the Pandorica that could then all be fitted together to build the prison cube. In a surprising twist, the exterior decoration of the Pandorica toy was made up of CDs containing audio readings of Target novelisations. An episode-specific Eleventh Doctor with Fez and mop accessories, for example, came with the first part of an adaptation of the 1974 book Doctor Who and the Auton Invasion. A later version of the Pandorica lacked the CDs.
The wave also included two different versions of a Roman Auton, previously issued as a standalone figure, and a Cyberman Pandorica Guard that came with Cyber-skull and ‘tendril’ accessories. The Cyber-guard was also available as a ‘stabbed’ variant, exclusively available from Argos with the TARDIS playset.
