SCANDI-COOL MEETS FRENCH-CHIC – WITH A SPLASH OF THE 1930S AND A HINT OF THE 1970S – IN INTERIOR DESIGNER JULIA ROUZAUD’S PARISIAN APARTMENT
PHOTOGRAPHED BY JÉRÔME GALLAND WORDS BY AUDREY SCHNEUWLY
The art deco-inspired living room features a custom-made travertine fireplace beneath a painting by René Roche. It’s flanked by bookcases that house a vase by Ettore Sottsass, Scandinavian ceramics, art books and a lithograph by the Italian painter Alberto Magnelli. The wall lamp is by Johanna de Clisson at Hiromi, and the rug is from Nordic Knots. The armchair and sofa are vintage finds that have been reupholstered, and the coffee table is the base of an old opium bed.
In the entrance, carpet by Les Èditions de Tapis hangs as a tapestry above a coffee table-turned-bench by the design studio Cara \ Davide. To the right is Alvar Aalto’s Angel Wing floor lamp from 1954, and custom cupboard and office doors.
