Hey, Lady
CHRISTIAN DIOR’S MOST STORIED BAG HAS BECOME A DIALOGUE OF ART AND COUTURE — A FAMILIAR FORM, MADE ENTIRELY NEW
WORDS BY SARAH NOONAN
From the moment it appeared in the hands of Princess Diana in 1995, the Lady Dior handbag has carried a quiet authority; a symbol of poise that could traverse royal halls and city streets with equal ease. Recognisable for its sculptural form and the meticulous craftsmanship of its cannage pattern, it is both familiar and endlessly adaptable.
Over the past decade, artists from around the world have embraced this duality for the Dior Lady Art project, transforming the known silhouette into something entirely unexpected. For its milestone 10th edition, Christian Dior has invited 10 international creators to reimagine this venerated handbag, exploring ingenuity, texture and vision in their distinctly unique designs.
