ABOUT THE AUTHOR
For the last 7 Censuses, I’ve been in a different part of the UK Mainland. I’ve always had a love of history and it became a habit to research where I lived. When I moved from Mid Glamorgan to Hampshire in 2009, my elder sister reminded me that our Dad, a Foreman Engineer, during 1963-64 had supervised a crew to install pumps into the new Pumping Station at Fawley and on many trips home to Glasgow, he had talked about the enormous, dilapidated Hospital buildings he could see across Southampton Water.
