Charming and whimsical
Soft, romantic planting combines well with an upcycled vintage container. The whimsical nepeta (Glechoma) creates a sense of playfulness, while bacopa (Chaenostoma) planted at the edge will trail and soften the edges of this old crate all summer. Silver is an essential characteristic of vintage and used here it plays on the interactions between light and dark. I plant the senecio first providing a backdrop for the delicate oxalis foliage. The petunia, whose colour fades out just like a vintage painting, is a perfect companion to the trailing silver helichrysum. You can be sure this container will be buzzing with bees thanks to the wispy flowering salvia, providing nectar late into the year.
