Commando Paddle 24
by Cpl J Kassab
This year marked the Paddle Group’s fourth week-long expedition to the Western Isles of Scotland, an annual pilgrimage to honour the birthplace of modern Commandos and Special Forces. Following the Paddle Group’s Channel crossing in June for the 80th D-Day anniversary, this journey also held special significance in light of the forthcoming 360th birthday of the Royal Marines.
The Commando Paddle Group
The paddle group gathered in full at HM Naval Base Clyde Off-Site Centre (COSC), a little-known ancillary facility to Faslane. Travelling from all corners of the UK, members came together for new introductions and reconnections with old friends. The first day was dedicated to kit preparations, packing, assembling the Kleppers and ensuring we were well-fed and ready for the days ahead.
