PLAY CHICAGO BLUES: MIKE BLOOMFIELD
Born in 1943 in Chicago, Michael Bloomfield’s interest in the blues was
piqued at an early age as he watched and learned from some of the great
Chicago musicians of the day (Freddie King, Luther Allison and Buddy Guy) who were carving out a genre and electrifying the blues. Mike learned fast and, helped by his innate understanding of the blues, he was soon noticed and supported by some of the greats including Buddy Guy, BB King and the rising star Bob Dylan, with Mike playing on Dylan’s iconic album Highway 61 Revisited. The legendary John Hammond signed him to Columbia Records in 1964 and he cut several tracks for them. He went on to join The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, establishing himself as a player on the album East-West.
