A new observation platform set more than 3,000 metres above sea level in South Tyrol offers visitors a new way to view the Italian Alps. Ötzi Peak 3251m – named after the famous ice mummy Ötzi, who was discovered in this area – was designed and built by local architects noa* (Network of Architecture) using vertical steel struts to enable guests to stand close to the edge, with no screen to interrupt the panorama. The awe-inspiring views on offer include the snowfield of the Similaun, where Ötzi was found, as well as the Alto Giogo Glacier. The path of the centuries-old Transhumance tradition (the seasonal movement of livestock) can also be clearly seen from the platform.
