BUILDING AND RESTORING
QI am considering buying a property in Italy. However, I am not sure about the choice between building a new house, restoring a rundown property or buying an already existing house or restored property. What are the differences considering, among other things, time, and technical and fi nancial consequences?
A It all depends on your expectations of your future property in Italy, on how you want to make use of it and, fi nally, your budget. Buying an existing new or restored property is of course a lot easier, less work, and sometimes even less cost. If you need to move in instantly or want to start renting it out immediately, a new or restored property is the way to go. However, if you have time on your hands, buying a plot to build your own house, or buying a rundown but characterful property to restore, will be an intense but also very rewarding experience.
